Tampering with truth

- Jacob Ninan

You can listen to this on YouTube

At the trial of Jesus, Pilate exclaimed rhetorically, "What is truth?", in response to Jesus saying, "For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice" (Jn.18:37). 'Truth' is more than speaking the truth in contrast to lying. It means what is true and actual. When Jesus said He is the Truth, He meant everything about Him is true, and there is nothing in Him that is contrary to truth. The Devil, who is the embodiment of every falsehood, is now trying to turn people from God. He cannot do this if people cling to the truth. So he confuses the issue by proposing that truth is what we define it to be. If we accept this, the foundation of life itself becomes unstable because then there is no reliable reference point for anything.

The truth is that there is only one God, and Jesus is the only way we can get to Him (Jn.14:6). But if it is now up to us to decide which way we want to go, we will have to convince ourselves that our way is also fine, when actually it is not! God made us male and female. But when people try to pretend as if there are no differences between the two, the result is utter chaos.

The Devil has cleverly manipulated the media in such a way that anyone who holds on to the truth and does not allow himself to be pulled by the crowd is made to look like a fool who does not understand modern ideas. Many succumb to this pressure and yield themselves to follow the trends.

But falsehood cannot avoid getting exposed with time, because only truth can endure the test of time. Even now, discerning people can observe the folly that people who went 'progressive' have got into, discarded reality and fought for falsehood. Falsehood will bite back sooner or later. Look at those who followed the transgender fashion, made irreversible damage to themselves. Now many of them are unable to see a way out.

This phrase, "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie" (Rom.1:25), is powerful! This is an extremely costly thing to do! In discarding truth, they will lose God Himself. He will give up such people.

There is so much propaganda being pushed out through the media now, because it reaches a large percentage of all people because they have smartphones and the Internet. Artificial Intelligence is being misused to impersonate famous people (including godly Christians) to make people to accept falsehood.

"You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian" (2Ti.3:1 TLB). We cannot stand unless we know the truth personally. It is dangerous to depend on what leaders say. We must have a personal relationship with the Lord, and we must learn to read His word with dependence on the Holy Spirit to reveal His truths to us (Jn.16:13). To depend merely on our intelligence is risky. Jesus warned us that unless we are willing to obey the truth when we know it, we can go wrong (Jn.7:17).
